DEPARTMENT OF EVANGELIZATION AND EDUCATION
There is still time to register for the annual diocesan celebration of Confirmation. You can access the registration form by clicking here. The Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at St. Peter Cathedral at 3:00 pm ET. All are welcome to this Mass which is specifically celebrated for the following groups of people who have not yet been confirmed:
If anyone is requesting to be confirmed that does not meet the above criteria, please refer them to your pastor as any special requests must be submitted in writing to the Office of the Bishop by the pastor.
- Youth who will be in the 11th or 12th grade during the 2015-2016 school year;
- Young adults in college who are seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation;
- Those adults in our RCIA programs who have been baptized and raised Catholic, that is, people who have received both the Sacrament of Baptism and Holy Communion. Previously, the bishop granted faculties to confirm at the Easter Vigil those people who have been baptized and raised Catholic. Now, the Bishop, as the ordinary minister of the Sacrament of Confirmation, would like those who have been baptized and raised Catholic to come to the Cathedral so that he can confirm them.

HOLY LAND/NATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS COLLECTION
On Good Friday, March 25th, our parish will take up the annual Holy Land and Communications collection. Your support of the Holy Land portion of the collection supports Christians in the land made holy by the life, suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus. Franciscans and others in the Holy Land house and feed the poor, provide religious formation and education, maintain shrines and parishes, and conduct pastoral ministry. The communications portion of your contribution supports the ministry of the U.S. Bishops’ Catholic Communication Campaign, which communicates the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enriches our faith through podcasts, television, radio, and print media. Half of your donation to the communications portion of the collection remains in our diocese to support local communication efforts, like The U.P. Catholic newspaper, the diocesan weekly news podcasts on the diocesan website and the annual Good News Awards that honor local media professionals for the positive stories they write and programs they produce.
