RED FLAG REPORTING INSIGHTS
While Red Flag Reporting is not to be used for emergency situations, they have shared some thoughtful insights on a subject few of us want to think about. Please take a moment to read the information below.

Don’t be a Victim.

Although you should contact 9-1-1 for emergency situations, and not Red Flag Reporting, this quarter we are discussing something that many of us never imagined early in our careers: workplace shootings and attacks. Law enforcement agencies across the country recommend “Run, Hide, Fight” (a term that is trademarked by the City of Houston):

RUN: If you can escape, escape – even if others don’t agree to run. Leave your belongings behind and help others if you can. Stop others from entering the area and call 9-1-1 when you are safe.

HIDE: If you can’t escape, hide. Lock or block the door. Silence your phone. Hide behind large objects and remain very quiet.

FIGHT: As a last resort, and only if your life is in danger, fight. Try to incapacitate the attacker. Commit to your actions and be physically aggressive. Improvise weapons.

We realize that just reading the above can cause the adrenaline to flow. For perspective, the FBI says a person is more likely to be killed by lightning than a workplace attack. But as our parents always said, “better safe than sorry!”

Remember, if you have concerns about unethical or non-emergency unsafe behavior, contact your management or us. We are here to help.

As a reminder, our client code for filing a report is 8005629745.
