OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR AND DIVINE WORSHIP
IMMACULATE CONCEPTION (DECEMBER 8TH) IS A HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION
Despite the fact that this year, December 8th falls on a Saturday, the feast of the Immaculate Conception remains a Holy Day of Obligation. This is because Mary, under the title of the Immaculate Conception, is the Patroness of the United States. In the time frame, from Friday, December 7, to Sunday, December 9, we are obligated to attend two separate Masses for two distinct obligations: We are obligated to attend one Mass, in order to fulfill our obligation for the Holy Day (The Immaculate Conception), as well as another Mass, in order to fulfill our Sunday obligation (The Second Sunday of Advent).
Rev. Daniel Moll
To clarify which Masses will be for the Immaculate Conception, and which will be for the Second Sunday of Advent:

Please be aware the maximum contribution per individual is $18,500, unless the employee is age 50 or over. Members over 50 years of age are allowed an additional "catch-up" contribution of $6,000. Since there still are several months left in 2018, it is a good time to evaluate your individual contributions to your 403(b) plan. Are you maximizing the amount you can contribute? Are you sure you will not exceed the maximum contribution amount by year end? If you have questions, please feel free to contact Irene at email@example.com or 800-562-9745, Ext. 135.
LOOKING AHEAD-MAXIMUM CONTRIBUTIONS FOR 2019
The maximum contribution for 2019 will increase to $19,000, unless the employee is age 50 or over. Members over 50 years of age will be allowed an additional “catch-up” contribution of $6,000.
STANDARDIZED PERSONNEL POLICIES REMINDER
All parishes and missions are reminded that supplemental personnel policies were due to the Diocese by September 1, 2018. Parishes with policy changes that included adding or deleting MCC-administered benefits should contact Michigan Catholic Conference as soon as possible to ensure these benefit changes are processed for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
If you are unsure of whether your parish completed its supplementary personnel policies, please contact Irene McCauley to verify that your policy was received and approved. All parishes must submit parish supplemental policy drafts to firstname.lastname@example.org before implementing new policies at their parishes. Once supplemental policies are approved by the Diocese, copies will be returned to the parish and must be signed by the pastor and parish finance council to take effect. Parish bookkeepers are reminded that all parish employees must also sign policy acknowledgement forms to be recorded in employee personnel files.
A copy of the supplemental personnel policies can be found on the diocesan website at http://www.dioceseofmarquette.org/administrativepolicies and in Addendum #2 of this Communicator.

TIME TO BEGIN YOUR #iGIVECATHOLIC PROMO
#iGiveCatholic 2018 is Tuesday, November 27, it’s time to start promoting it to your members and friends. Use the #IGiveCatholic logo Addendum #3, bulletin insert Addendum #4 and bulletin announcement on the weekends of Nov 17-18 and 24-25 to inform and inspire giving.
Even if your parish did not register by the Oct 31 deadline, it will still be listed among the Diocese of Marquette ministries on the giving platform, so that your supports can find you. The Diocese will receive gifts on behalf of your parish.
For assistance, contact Renee at email@example.com.
