Bishop John F. Doerfler
UPCSA BISHOP'S PARTNERS IN SERVICE (BPS) MASS, JUNE 23
Invitations from Bishop John have been direct mailed to over 1,200 parish families who made leadership gifts to UPCSA, to attend a special Mass of Thanksgiving on June 23. Pastors recently received an email from the Bishop’s office naming their parishioners who are members of BPS and are encouraged to attend with them. BPS members represented just 15% of all UPCSA contributors and gave over half of the appeal income.
A light reception will follow the mass in the parish hall, where Bishop John will present a brief Q&A program and special drawings to be held, including six BPS members to dine with the Bishop at his residence on September 22nd. Please refer to Addendum #1(BPSMEMO) which is the memo to all priests and pastoral coordinators which was sent from the Bishop on April 18, 2019 via email and U.S. mail.

CARMELITE SILVER TEA, SEPTEMBER 21-22, 2019
Each year, the Sisters of the Discalced Carmelite Monastery of the Holy Cross in Iron Mountain, MI, sponsor the Carmelite Silver Tea, Craft and Bake Sale which is scheduled for September 21-22, 2019. I highly encourage your support and participation in the event. As you know, the Carmelite Monastery is a cloistered community of Sisters that dedicate their lives to prayer, a ministry which is foundational for the Church’s apostolate. Carmelite prayer and contemplation focus on the welfare and fruitfulness of all those engaged in the work of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. As they continue to support the people of the Upper Peninsula through their prayers, I ask for your support of this event to assist them in carrying on their spiritual mission. Your efforts to sell or purchase tickets for the Carmelite Silver Tea would be greatly appreciated.

MARIAN HOLY HOUR
The Carmelite Nuns invite you to their annual Marian Holy Hour in honor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel to be held at the Monastery Chapel from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on July 14th, 15th and 16th. The Holy Hour each evening will include Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament, a Reflection on Our Lady, Rosary and Litany. Father Vinko Mamic, O.C.D., a Discalced Carmelite priest from Croatia who will be here in the United States this summer visiting different Carmels, will conduct this year’s Triduum (three days of Marian Holy Hour). If you wish to come a little earlier, the Nuns will be singing some Eucharistic and Marian hymns at around 6:50 p.m. each evening.
Scapulars, rosaries, leaflets, CD's and holy cards will be available for the taking. Enrollment in the Brown Scapular will be offered on the evening of the 16th for anyone who wishes to be enrolled --- which means acceptance of Mary as Mother. Wearing the Scapular is a sign of belonging to Mary, whom we desire to imitate and who will lead us to Jesus. God bless you!
