WALKING WITH MOMS IN NEED
Pregnant and parenting moms in need are in our parishes and neighborhoods. Walking with Moms in Need: A Year of Service begins March 25, 2020 and continues through March 25, 2021 to help parishioners know where to refer a pregnant woman in need. The Department of Communications has been tasked with promoting this initiative to help parishes, as Pope Francis reminds us, to be “islands of mercy in the midst of the sea of indifference.”
For resources ranging from a “Parish Action Guide” and “Parish Inventory Tool” to “Year At-a-Glance” planning guide, help to select a parish leader and building a core team, bulletin announcements and more, visit www.walkingwithmoms.com.

COLLECTION REMITTANCE DEADLINES
Several diocesan collections are held in the early part of the new year. Please contact Irene McCauley at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions regarding parish remittance deadlines.
On February 16th, parishes held the optional U.P. Catholic Newspaper collection. Parishes should retain the proceeds of this collection to offset the expense of providing the newspaper to their parishioners. Please do not mail a check to the diocesan office for funds collected.
The Marquette Diocesan Catholic Schools Collection 2020 was held on February 26th (Ash Wednesday) and March 1st (first Sunday of Lent). Please remit funds to the Diocese no later than April 30, 2020.
TAMPER EVIDENT COLLECTION BAGS
The diocese will make available a one-year supply of tamper evident collection bags to any parish that has not previously implemented this procedure. Parishes that have instituted this process have indicated they appreciate the extra level of security for their weekly and special collections. Our independent auditors also strongly endorse this procedure. If you are currently using these bags and need to order more, please see the new order form in Addendum #5. Connover Packaging also redesigned the closure on its bags in the past year to improve the tamper-evidency. Please see Addendum #6 for a printable instruction sheet for first-time users or new collection volunteers. For more information or to get your initial supply contact Irene at email@example.com.

GOOD SHEPHERD SUNDAY SCHEDULED BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bulletin Insert #1
For weekend of April 18th/19th, 2020
The Diocese of Marquette is blessed with many senior (retired) priests (those who are no longer assigned to a parish). These men make present Christ, the Good Shepherd, and continue to give of themselves in countless ways of service for which we are grateful.
As is the case with many pension plans in today’s world, our priests’ retirement program is not fully funded. On Good Shepherd Sunday, May 2nd/3rd, our Diocese will take up a special collection to support our priests’ retirement and help remedy the shortfall in the St. Joseph Association. I hope you will consider using the envelope provided in your packets.
Bulletin Insert #2
For weekend of April 25th/26th, 2020
Retired priests of the Diocese of Marquette receive health and automobile insurance and a monthly pension from the St. Joseph Association, the diocesan priest retirement fund. Diocesan priests live independently during their retirement, and they use their pension for basic needs, such as food, housing and transportation. Parish assessments, plus growth in the St. Joseph Association, have fallen short of what is needed to provide necessary benefits to our retired priests.
All parishes and missions in the Diocese of Marquette will participate in a special collection on May 2nd/3rd to help “bridge the gap.” It is essential that we ensure adequate retirement and health coverage in the years ahead for our priests. Please return your collection envelope during next weekends’ Masses.
Bulletin Insert #3
For collection weekend – May 2nd/3rd, 2020
This weekend all parishes and missions in the Diocese of Marquette are holding a Good Shepherd Sunday special collection to support our priests’ retirement fund, called the St. Joseph Association. This collection directly benefits priests of the Diocese of Marquette and is completely separate from the annual collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious, which supports retired clergy and sisters of religious orders across America.
Please prayerfully reflect on how you can best help support our own priests’ retirement and return your envelope in the collection or drop it off at the parish.
Bulletin Insert #4
Two weeks following collection weekend – May 16th/17th, 2020
On Good Shepherd Sunday, our parish and all parishes and missions throughout our diocese took up a special collection to support our priests’ retirement fund, known as the St. Joseph Association. Collectively, our parishioners have raised $ AMOUNT to date. We truly appreciate your support. If you were unable to use your envelope last weekend, you may still support our retired priests by returning your envelope in today’s collection or by dropping it off at the parish office.
