CATECHETICAL SUNDAY RESOURCE
This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 20, 2020. The 2020 theme will be "I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you." Those who the Community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.

The USCCB offers several resources to assist parishes as they acknowledge their catechists and families in this important ministry in the Church which can be found at  https://www.usccb.org/committees/evangelization-catechesis/leadership-institute-catechetical-sunday-2020.

RCIA CANDIDATES MARITAL STATUS
A reminder to Pastors, Pastoral Coordinators and the RCIA team of the importance of determining the marriage situation of the RCIA candidate and the candidate’s spouse which may require a declaration of nullity before he/she may enter the Church. If the candidate or the candidate’s current spouse has been married previously, an investigation into these marriages must be made. A questionnaire that may be helpful to you is found in Addendum #1 to this communicator.

FINANCIAL SERVICES
Tim Thomas

PPP LOAN FORGIVENESS
While many of you are eager to apply for PPP loan forgiveness as soon as possible, we are advising that you wait. At the moment, many lenders are not ready to process the applications, and several are developing tools to make the process more efficient. In addition, if repayment is deemed necessary (for all, or a portion of the loan), payments are not required until 10 months after the covered period.

PAYMENT SUSPENSIONS FROM APRIL 1 - SEPTEMBER 30, 2020
Parishes and schools experiencing financial strain from the effects of the coronavirus may defer payments for needy parish loans, hymnal loans, rents, UPCSA balances, U.P. Catholic subscriptions, and service agreements between April 1, 2020 and September 30, 2020.

Please note that diocesan staff will continue to bill during this period. Parishes and schools are asked to continue payments for these debts and services if they are able to do so.

2020 PARISH ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT (PAFR)
PAFR submissions were due to the Diocese by August 31, 2020. Access to this form is available on the Diocesan website dioceseofmarquette.org/pafr. Please note that submissions must include a Statement of Financial Position/Balance Sheet, Statement of Revenue & Expense/Income Statement, and 2020-21 Budget for each parish submission. Please contact Irene McCauley immediately if your parish has not yet submitted a Parish Annual Financial Report. Irene can be reached at imccauley@dioceseofmarquette.org or 1-800-562-9745, ext. 135.

2020 PARISH GOVERNANCE REPORT
The Governance Report is due September 30, 2020 and has been included in Addendum #2. Completed reports or questions should be sent directly to Irene McCauley at imccauley@dioceseofmarquette.org or at 1-800-562-9745, ext. 135.

PARISH & SCHOOL SECRETARY/BOOKKEEPER WORKSHOP
We have tentatively rescheduled the annual Parish & School Secretary/Bookkeeper Workshop on October 13, 2020, as a virtual event through Zoom. Registration details will be sent to all parishes and schools in the coming weeks. Please contact Emily Fust, efust@dioceseofmarquette.org (ph. 906-225-1141), if you have any questions.

PARISH USE OF VOTER GUIDES
The Internal Revenue Code prohibits charitable organizations, including churches, from participating or intervening in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for political office. Permissible activities include the distribution of unbiased voter guides. Please refer to the Voter Guides Addendum #3 when preparing to distribute parish voter guides for the upcoming election. This document is also available on the Diocesan website under dioceseofmarquette.org/administrativepolicies

403(B) RETIREMENT PLAN MAXIMUM CONTRIBUTIONS
Please be aware the maximum contribution per individual is $19,500 unless the employee is age 50 or over. Members over 50 years of age are allowed an additional "catch-up" contribution of $6,500. Since there still are several months left in 2020, it is a good time to evaluate your individual contributions to your 403(b) plan.  Are you maximizing the amount you can contribute?  Are you sure you will not exceed the maximum contribution amount by year end?  If you have questions, please feel free to contact Irene at imccauley@dioceseofmarquette.org or 800-562-9745, Ext. 135.
