CATECHETICAL SUNDAY RESOURCES
This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 19, 2021 and the theme is "Say the Word and My Soul Shall be Healed." Those who the Community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.
The USCCB offers several resources to assist parishes as they acknowledge their catechists and families in this important ministry in the Church. They can be found at https://www.usccb.org/committees/evangelization-catechesis/leadership-institute-catechetical-sunday-2021

A questionnaire that may be helpful to you is found in Addendum #3 to this communicator.

Proceeds from this collection will fund the humanitarian, long-term recovery and significant Church needs arising from the disasters through Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Charities USA, the official relief agencies of the U.S. Catholic Church. Pastors are asked to consider how best to conduct the special collection in their parishes with consideration of parish UPCSA strategies. Parishes may to hold the collection no later than October 2nd-3rd and remit proceeds payable to “Diocese of Marquette: 2021 Disasters Collection” by October 29th, 2021.
Please see the Bulletin Announcements section for an announcement that can be placed in your parish bulletins to promote this collection. Thank you for your support of this cause.

SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR HAITI
As we pray for those afflicted by the recent earthquake in Haiti that stuck on Saturday, August 14, our bishop, Most Rev. John F. Doerfler, asks that all parishes and missions in the diocese take up a special collection. This collection will support the USCCB Bishops Emergency Disaster Fund. Funds collected will be for pastoral and reconstruction needs of the Church as well as the efforts of Catholic Relief Services and/or Catholic Charities USA, the official relief agencies of the U.S. Catholic Church, as they and their local agencies respond to immediate emergency needs and aid in long-term rebuilding and recovery efforts. May Our Lady of Perpetual Help, patroness of Haiti, intercede for us that this special appeal will be successful and provide for the needs of the people and the Church in Haiti.
