News release on Catholic Missionary Disciples Grant

Our greatest treasure, our Lord Jesus Christ, is received by us through His personal generous offering of grace and friendship to each of us. Jesus uses our ministers and ordinary folks like us to share His Good News and offer on His behalf this beautiful life-transforming gift of a personal relationship with Him. In our diocese, many witnesses daily share Jesus good news and His call to discipleship following Him.

Our highest hope is to be effective channels of His good news and to communicate to others His desire for a personal relationship with them. Relying on the Holy Spirit acting through us, we are working to bring about a new Pentecost in our Diocese.

To this end, Bishop John is committing diocesan resources to supplement local parish investment for effective Evangelization training.  Bishop John is offering a special Legacy of Faith grant to train a core team in your parish through Catholic Missionary Disciples founded by Marcel LeJeune.

Apply for this diocesan grant by July 15th. Training will begin sometime in August.

Our Successes

Baraga County Catholic Community: (Sacred Heart, L’Anse; St. Ann, Baraga; Holy Name of Jesus/St. Kateri, Assinins)
The Baraga County Catholic Community, under the pastorship of Father Corey Litzner, is transforming Catholics into Spirit-filled evangelizes through Alpha. “Everyone can benefit from the power and beauty of Alpha. We all know that having a conversation about faith, life and Jesus can be hard, but it does not have to be. Alpha starts with a fantastic home-cooked meal and then transitions to a space where friends, families, and neighbors are invited to explore the Christian faith and the meaning of life in a way that is relaxed, respectful, and fun. Parishioners are encouraged to introduce Alpha to their families and friends. It is open to everyone and continues to grow. We have a huge team of volunteers who have been touched by the Holy Spirit to manage every aspect of Alpha,” said Father Litzner. The Baraga County Catholic Community is in its sixth round of Alpha sessions.

The fruits of Alpha for the parishes is increased Mass attendance and more regular adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. They have also increased participation in the ministries of the parish. For more information contact Sacred Heart Parish, L’Anse (906) 524.6424.
